Crucial Impact of Shami Ranji Trophy Return
The Big Return: All eyes were on India’s premier speedster Mohammed Shami as he finally made his highly anticipated return to competitive cricket. This Shami Ranji Trophy return has instantly put the national selectors on high alert.
Porel Fights Back: Despite the spotlight on the bowling, wicketkeeper-batsman Abishek Porel showed immense grit for Bengal. He top-scored with a fighting 54, single-handedly steadying the ship after a top-order collapse.
Karnataka Dismantle Assam for 135
Bowlers on Fire: Over in Guwahati, Karnataka’s bowling attack put on a clinical show, skittling out Assam for a paltry 135 in their first innings. Ritesh Bhatkal and Shikhar Shetty ran riot, picking up a fifer each to wrap up Assam’s innings in under 49 overs.
Dominant Reply: In response, Karnataka’s batters made a roaring start, reaching 180/2 at stumps to take a handy 45-run lead. Opener Rohan Patil looked in sublime touch scoring a quickfire 46, while skipper Mayank Agarwal anchored beautifully with a solid 57.
Harsh Dubey’s Historic 9-Wicket Haul
Nagpur Turning Track: In Nagpur, Vidarbha’s star left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey grabbed all the headlines with an unforgettable spell. Dubey ran through the Madhya Pradesh lineup, registering career-best figures of 9 for 53 to bundle them out for 209. In reply, Vidarbha faced a bumpy start, finishing the day at 56/4.
Tamil Nadu Seize Control in Chandigarh
Pradosh Paul Slams Century: Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu completely dominated Chandigarh on Day 1. Driven by a magnificent unbeaten 138 from Pradosh Ranjan Paul and half-centuries from Narayan Jagadeesan (52) and Baba Indrajith (51), Tamil Nadu cruised to a commanding 320/4 at stumps.
Crucial Points At Stake In Group Stage
